How to use this site

This platform is designed to help you easily find validated analytical methods for Special Dietary Foods. Below is a step-by-step guide to navigating the site:

1. Start from the Homepage

From the homepage, you can begin your search in one of three ways:

  • By Commodity (e.g. infant formula)

  • By Analyte (e.g. biotin, iron, vitamin D)

  • By Method (analytical techniques)

You can access these options either via the three main buttons or through the top menu bar.

2. Use the Search and Filter Tools

You have two main tools to narrow your search:

  • Search Bar: Type in what you're looking for (e.g. “biotin”).

  • Alphabetical Index: Click on a letter to browse analytes alphabetically.

Once you enter an analyte or select a letter:

  • The site will display all available methods.

  • You'll see which commodities each method applies to (e.g. infant formula, follow-up formula).

  • Equivalent methods are grouped on the same line.

3. Refine Your Search Further

To refine your search:

  • Select a Commodity to limit the analyte list to relevant items.

  • Choose a Principle (analytical technique) for more targeted results.

For example, selecting "Infant Formula" and "Biotin" will show all validated methods available for that specific combination.

4. Explore Method Details

Click on any method to access:

  • Key details about the method

  • Its relevance to Codex Alimentarius standards

  • A direct link to the official publication

  • Options to export or save the method as a PDF

  • A contact option for questions or support
